I-680 Contra Costa South Express Lanes
The project converted existing HOV lanes to express lanes on I-680 from Alcosta Road and Livorna Road in the northbound direction and from Rudgear Road to Alcosta Blvd. in the southbound direction. The conversion included striping lanes and installing overhead and roadside signage, FasTrak® toll tag readers, and traffic monitoring equipment, as well as concrete barrier modifications for the lane reconfiguration.
Park Engineering was part of the Zoon Engineering team to provide construction management and inspection services for the project.
The construction cost for the I-680 civil contract was approximately $29 million. The project was fully funded by Bay Area Infrastructure Financing Authority (BAIFA) using local funds.
I-880 Express Lanes
The project converted the existing I-880 HOV lanes that run from Hegenberger Road to Dixon Landing Road in the southbound direction and from Dixon Landing Road to Lewelling Blvd. in the northbound direction to express lanes. The conversion involved lane striping and installing sign gantries, signs, FasTrak® toll tag readers, traffic monitoring video cameras, a data communications network and CHP observation areas. Trees were removed near Hacienda Blvd. in San Lorenzo to make room to widen a short stretch of the highway to accommodate a merge lane. Project work will result in 51 express lane miles from Oakland to Milpitas. This project was coordinated with Caltrans’ project to replace the median barrier on I-880.
Park Engineering was part of the Zoon Engineering team to provide construction management and inspection services for the project.
The construction cost for the I-680 civil contract was approximately $38 million. The project was fully funded by Bay Area Infrastructure Financing Authority (BAIFA) using local funds.
