Various Project Specific Improvement Projects
Park Engineering provided resident engineering, construction management & inspection services to the City of Emeryville Public Works Department for the following projects:
Greenway Extension at Stanford to Powell – Peladeau Park
Park Engineering provided Construction Management for this $800k project that was a key segment to the larger park setting, multi-use pedestrian facility. The Emeryville Greenway extends from Berkeley’s 9th Street Bike Boulevard to Emeryville’s Horton Street Bike Boulevard which connect to Oakland’s Mandela Parkway. Work included pathways & sidewalks, hardscape features, landscaping & irrigation improvements and park site furnishings such as benches, tables, garbage cans and local art. The project was funded from County, Park & Local funds.
2016 Sanitary Sewer Spot Repair Project
The project was a $800,000 rehabilitation of existing sewer mains on major roads at 42 different locations throughout the City. The work to be performed includes locating and potholing utilities, traffic control, excavation, sewer pipe repair and installation, CIPP spot repairs, video inspection, sewer flow diversion, dewatering, soil disposal, trench shoring, pavement restoration, and pavement delineation. Pipe sizes ranged from 8 to 24-inch mains.
San Pablo Ave Safe Routes to School Project
Park Engineering provided Construction Management and Inspection Services for this federally funded $650K project that upgraded multiple cross-walk intersections, installed rectangular rapid flash beacon systems and speed feedback assemblies, and upgraded an existing traffic signal. Work was coordinated with Caltrans, as it was performed on State Route 123 (San Pablo Ave). Roadway signs and improved roadway striping were part of the contract work.
2013/2014 and 2014/2015 Sewer Rehabilitation Project
The project was a $2 million rehabilitation of existing sewer mains and laterals on major roads throughout the City. The work included locating and potholing utilities, traffic control, excavation, sewer pipe installation, pipe-bursting, manhole construction, manhole rehabilitation, sewer lateral abandonment, video inspection, sewer flow diversion, dewatering, soil disposal, trench shoring, pavement restoration, and pavement delineation. Pipe bursting work involved replacing existing laterals and mains in sizes of 4”, 6”, 8” and 12” with HDPE pipe with butt fusion welded joints. Additional work included open cut excavation and installation of 14” and 22” mains. The project also involved jacking and boring a 36” steel casing, using a micro tunneling method and installing a 22” HDPE main under and existing bridge on Powell Street, which is the busiest street in Emeryville.
Shellmound St., Overland Ave., 62nd & 63rd St.
This $1.2 million project replaced over 3800 linear feet of sewer mains, 1500 linear feet of sewer laterals, and 28 sewer manholes. Construction included both open trench exaction as well as pipe bursting. Project also involved contaminated soil and groundwater, coordination with PG&E and EBMUD for underground utilities, trench backfill and HMA paving.
